Reception[]
The film is both the highest-grossing Korean horror film and the first to be screened in American theatres. It also received very positive reviews from critics and won Best Picture at the 2004 Fantasporto Film Festival.
Because of all of this the remake rights were bought in the United States in the same year by DreamWorks SKG.
