Angela Bettis is an American film and stage actress, film producer, and director. She is best known for her lead roles in the 2002 remake and television film Carrie, in May (2002), and in Girl, Interrupted.
Biography[]
Angela Bettis graduated from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas and later from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, N.Y..
In addition to her work in film, Angela Bettis also starred in Broadway productions. She became especially famous for her work in independent horror films, especially her working relationship with writer/director Lucky McKee. Thanks to her title role in McKee's 2002 film May, she won her something of a cult following.
In the film business she became more famous as an actress than as a producer or director, which she did in a far less manner. She finally became notorious for her role in Carrie where she was praised by the critics for her performance as the protagonist of the film, Carrie White.
She also received several awards for having played the character May Dove Canady in May.
