Bradford Claude "Brad" Dourif (born March 18, 1950) is an American actor with many roles in the Horror genre. He is best known for providing the voice of Chucky in the Child's Play franchise.
Biography[]
Dourif was born on March 18, 1950 in Huntington, West Virginia. His mother was actress Joan Mavis Felton (née Bradford) and his father was art collector Jean Henri Dourif, who owned and operated a dye factory. In 1953, his father passed away. Golfer William C. Campbell was Dourif's stepfather.
Dourif is of French descent, since his paternal grandparents emigrated from France to Huntington. He attended Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and graduated there in 1968. One year later, in 1969, Dourif appeared as an amateur at the Fountain Valley Film Festival. He took second place in the 8mm film category with his 10-minute entry "Blind Date".
Since then, he appeared in several plays. In 1975, he had his debut in a film. Since then, he has appeared in many films and also in a number of horror films like Child's Play (1988), Alien Resurrection (1997) and Halloween (2007). It led him to renounce plays until 2013, where he appeared again in a play.
Still, however, he continued paricipate in films like the horror films and sequels of Child's Play Curse of Chucky (2013) Cult of Chucky (2017), both of which were straight-to-DVD releases, in which his own child Fiona Dourif also participated.
