Plot[]
A group of campers with the help of an Aztec priest must fight the Aztec demon Itzpapalotl to save themselves and the world.
Production[]
Filmed in the exotic location of Las Pozas, near the village of Xilitla in the Huasteca region of Mexico. According to the Aztecs and anthropologist's understanding of the Aztec beliefs the monster in this film, Itzpapalotl was a Queen and the Huasteca region was her kingdom!
This is Moctezuma II's final completed film. Unfortunately, only this English dubbed version is left. The monster in this film, Itzpapalotl, also known as the Obsidian Butterfly the Aztec demon goddess of change. It is rumored Sam Raimi has said this movie inspired "Evil Dead". Teens go camping and accidentally release a spirit? There are even vines that drag people away. Either way, this is the first movie I can think of to play with the teens get massacred by a demon genre. Lisa de la Luna DOES have a small part in the film, she plays the possessed Erika, while the unpossessed Erika is played by another actor, Gabi Mayorga (from "Las Fieras (1969)")
