History[]
Detective Santos and his partner, Mike Norris are called in to investigate the death of Maggie Peterson after she fell out of a window and fell several stories, landing on the roof of a parked car. They are at the crime scene looking for clues, when Norris suspects it could have been Andy Barclay, the son of Maggie's best friend who she was caring for when she died, due to the footprints of his toys' shoes. Mike tells Jack to look further into Andy and his mother, Karen, as well as getting the autopsy report to him. Mike also suspects that the toy hammer could be the murder weapon as they head to the elevator, but Jack laughs it off.
Santos is called in when another person ends up dead, criminal Eddie Caputo, whose squatting residence was blown up, and Andy was yet again the scene. Jack interrogates Andy in the other room and Norris talks with Karen. They don't believe Andy when he says it was his doll Chucky that did it, and they recommend he is taken away to a special facility to be checked over by a psychologist.
The next day, Mike and Karen arrive at the psychiatric looking for Andy as they have found out the truth about Chucky. Karen talks to one of the other patients while Mike asks Jack what has happened. Jack tell him that Andy's doctor, Dr. Ardmore had been killed and they suspect it was Andy, who has ran away. Mike asks him if he saw the Chucky doll, but Jack is confused.
Jack arrives at the Barclay apartment to find the place in disarray, with Mike injured on the floor. Mike tells him Andy was right and that it was Chucky that was killing people, but Jack laughs it off, still not believing them. Mike tells him to go see for himself by looking at the charred remains of the doll, but explicitly tells him not to touch it. Jack walks out into the hallway, examining the scene and slowly picks up the severed head of Chucky. He brings it into the room with Mike and the Barclays and still insists it's just a regular doll. Suddenly, Chucky's torso breaks through the air vent in the wall behind him and his hand begins to choke Jack as he scrambles for air.
Chucky's head yells at the torso to kill him while Jack struggles to break free. Karen rushes to help and grabs onto the torso, managing to pull it off of Jack and she throws it across the room. Mike then shoots the doll in the heart, seemingly killing it as Jack watches in shock.
