Edward Van Sloan was an American actor who has appeared in several horror films during the 1930s, most of which were for Universal Pictures. He is best remembered for playing the role of occult scholar Professor Van Helsing in Tod Browning's Dracula. Sloan also appeared in 1931's Frankenstein, where he played the dual role of Doctor Waldman and the narrator who introduces the film to the audience.
