Ethan Kirsch, also known by the fake name Ethan Landry, is the secondary antagonist of Scream VI.

Seemingly a quiet boy from the heroic inner circle, he is in actual the right-hand man and mole of Detective Wayne Bailey as well as the secret biological brother of the infamous conspirator Richie Kirsch. He is the archenemy and attempted killer of Chad Meeks-Martin and Tara Carpenter.

He is portrayed by Jack Champion.

History[]

Background[]

He is the brother of Richie Kirsch, who shared his psychopathic tendencies and behaviour. Just like Wayne and Quinn, he helped Richie achieve his goals even when he was alive. The three family members of Richie have supported his scheme by covering up his crimes and giving him a shrine so he could collect Ghostface items and work on his requel as he always wanted. Richie eventually befriended Amber, and the two became a couple and teamed up to create the requel. However, Richie and Amber were killed, as Richie was stabbed 22 times by Sam before she cut his throat. Ethan, along with Wayne and Quinn, vowel to finish Richie's work and avenge his death at all costs. Unlike Quinn who remarked that her father forces her to act in extreme methods, Ethan enjoyed wrecking havoc and while he was really mad at Sam for killing Richie, he rather stuck to his plans for pragmatic and sadistic reasons, making him more ruthless than his sister.

Scream VI[]

Wayne Bailey dressed as Ghostface and murdered Blackmore University student, Jason Carvey, who was trying to continue Richie's plan, and that same night Ethan attended a frat party with Chad. On Quinn's notice, Sam went there and attacked a student who was trying to take advantage of Tara. The group returned to their apartment where they all watched a news report on Jason's murder.

Whilst Sam and Tara were going down to the station, Wayne called Sam using Richie's old phone and threatened her before Ghostface (speculated to be Ethan) emerges from an alley. He attacked Sam and Tara and they evaded him and ran into a Bodega which he followed them in to. Ghostface then entered the Bodega and killed 2 customers before he was shot at by the Bodega clerk but managed to duck in time. Then he comes up from behind and stabs him in the heart right before shooting him with a shotgun. He then stalks Sam and Tara and eventually finds them but is knocked down. Sam and Tara escape just as the police arrive and Ghostface escapes through the backdoor, leaving behind Jill Roberts and Charlie Walker's old mask from the shrine.

During the next morning, he listens to Mindy explaining how he could be the top suspect. He denies it, and pretends to fear death.

That night Ethan sneaks into the apartment with his Ghostface costume and is noticed by Danny Brackett, who tries to get the attention of Sam. Ethan then kills Quinn's boyfriend, Paul, in the shower. Then he proceeds to attack Quinn and fake her death. When the group hears commotion they receive a picture of Ethan supposedly attacking Quinn. Ethan then throws Quinn's " dead body" on Anika with a surprise attack. Ethan then slices Mindy's arm and stabs Anika Kayoko in the stomach, later ripping it open. Chad and Tara leave the apartment, whilst Mindy, Anika, and Sam run into the washroom where Mindy notices Paul's dead body. Mindy and Anika barricade the door while Sam climbs into Danny's apartment with only a ladder. As Ethan starts shoving the drawers, Anika forces Mindy to go first. By the time Mindy is in Danny's apartment, Ethan is almost in. As Anika is climbing, Ethan eventually forces his way through. Ethan then tries to tip over the ladder as Anika is climbing. Ethan then tips the ladder over with a push which makes Anika fall to her death. Ethan then leaves the apartment, satisfied.

The next morning Ethan arrives to the crime scene where he is questioned by Chad. Ethan states that his alibi was that he had Economics in which Chad believes. Ethan then accompanies the heroes and Wayne as they go to an abandoned theatre which was actually a shrine for Ghostface, Because of Jason's spray, it seemed that he was the conspirator behind the attacks. After the disguised Quinn seemingly kills Gale Weathers indirectly, Wayne suggests the heroes to travel on public transport to the shrine so they can locate and trap all Ghostfaces. On the subway, however, Quinn is dressed up as a Ghostface, as she stabs Mindy and Chad, as Ethan pretends to take them to hospital, just so he could kill them after he finishes his business with Sam and Tara.

He and Quinn then attack Sam and Tara in the theatre's backstage, before surrounding them. Wayne and Kirby Reed then point at each other guns, as Reed blames Detective Bailey for being the one behind everything. Wayne shot her and seemingly killed her. He then revealed that he was the Ghostface leader, with Ethan being his right-hand and Quinn being his spy and enforcer.

Quinn pretended to die to avoid being a suspect, and Ethan has done most of the dirty work while staying close to the heroes. They also reveal that they are Richie's biological family, plotting to avenge his death and finish his requel at all costs. Ethan then chased after the escaping Sam and Tara on the rooftop. Ethan is injured when Tara stabs him multiple times, and Quinn is killed during their fight. After Wayne's death, Ethan wakes up and tries to commit his one last kill. However, the TV camera falls on him and smashes him to death by Kirby.

Trivia[]

  • Ethan unlike his sister was doing most of the dirty work and being Wayne's right-hand man. Also, Quinn did mention that her father forced her into the plan, treating her badly in many ways, despite her genuine anger on Richie's death. In comparison, Ethan just did what he did out of wanting his fathers approval due to Detective Wayne Bailey always loving Richie Kirsch more.
