Sheriff Judy Hicks is a character who appears in Scream 4 &Scream 5. She was portrayed by Marley Shelton. She is introduced as Deputy Sheriff to her boss, Sheriff Dewey Riley. After he retires, she succeeds him in the role.
She was a former classmate of Sidney Prescott, who does not remember her. The two acted in Peter Pan together, in which Sidney played Tiger Lily and Judy a lost boy. Judy worked her way to becoming a police officer. In her mid-twenties, she gave birth to a son, Wes Hicks, with her ex-husband.
Judy briefly had close romantic feelings for Dewey, which was obvious to those around her. She resented Gale for the way she treated Dewey and her resentment towards their small town life. Judy saved Gale's life during Jill Roberts' attack at the Woodsboro Hospital, and survived a gun shot to the chest through a bulletproof vest.
A decade later, she became the second victim to the 25th Anniversary Legacy Killings. She was stabbed relentlessly by Ghostface, and her son became the third victim shortly afterwards.
Judy was a classmate of Sidney during high school. They shared the same homeroom and were in drama class together. However, when Sidney comes back to Woodsboro she doesn't remember her, when she talks about it.
After high school Judy decides to become police officer. She is partner of sheriff Dewey Riley whom she idolizes, which leads to dislike from his wife Gale towards her. They can often be seen arguing.
Judy plays an important role in stopping the Ghostface of the fourth installment, Jill Roberts, and manages to survive, too.
Scream 5[]
At some point after the Jill Roberts murders and the new attacks, Judy became Sheriff of Woodsboro after Dewey retired. When the attacks started again, Judy went to extreme lengths to ensure her son and his friends were safe.
Judy was not particularly pleased with Samantha Carpenter returning to Woodsboro, as she had prior experience dealing with Samantha as a teenager, and this caused friction between the two.
One night, Judy orders Sushi for dinner and leaves Wes home alone as she goes to pick it up. Whilst she's driving, she gets a call from GhostFace who reveals that he is at her house watching Wes. Judy races home, whilst trying to trace the call, and as she runs up the steps to her house she is caught off guard and murdered.

Her casting call states: "A police officer, decidedly sexy but a bit off; she knew Sidney from high school. Didn’t make a big enough impression for Sidney to remember her. Likes her boss, Dewey, perhaps a little too much. NAME CAMEOS PREFERRED."
Judy was written in as a killer in a leaked script that has since been erased, which happened to a couple drafts to mislead fans away from the real plot. In that draft, Judy was the mastermind and assisted by a younger sister named Erin, along with a student named Daniel who still had a crush on Kirby. Judy and Erin made the plan up to get revenge against Sidney for her father constantly having affairs with their mother and their parents' deaths following shortly after. Ghostface was used just as a ruse and to prove a point that the killers can get away with it. Daniel was forced to participate under threats to kill Kirby and was later shot dead by Judy in an attempt to frame him for everything. Erin was killed by an ax in her head by another student and friend of Kirby, and Kirby shot Judy dead, making her fall into a pool on school campus grounds.
