Kim Hammond is the main protagonist of the 1980 slasher film Prom Night. She is the most popular girl in school, still grieving for the death of her younger sister years prior, and is set to become Prom Queen, but someone else has other, murderous plans for the special night.
She was portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis.

As 12-year-olds, Kim was going to play out with her friends when she left her geography book at home and decides to head back. Sometime later, her younger sister Robin was killed in an "accident" and she has felt sadness and regret ever since, alongside Kim's brother and Robin's fraternal twin Alex.
Now approaching her final days at high school, Kim is the most popular girl at school and is going to be prom queen alongside her childhood friend and now-boyfriend, Nick, The two are seen rehearsing for their big Prom King and Queen reveal, when she is confronted by Wendy, their other childhood friend who used to date Nick and constantly tries to break them up. Despite this, Kim hlds her own against Wendy and even remains a loyal friend to Jude and Kelly.
While in the changing rooms with Kelly, they hear a loud smash and find the mirror in the other room has been broken, with a significant piece missing. Kim become suspicious of the janitor but keeps that to herself. Her friends begin to receive threatening phone calls and ominous photos of themselves in their own lockers.
It's finally the night of the school prom and Nick comes to pick her up. Shortly into the event, Wendy appears and Kim starts to perform a choreographed dance routine in-front of the whole school which impresses everybody and makes Wendy jealous. Kim notices that the janitor has entered the party, screaming that people are dead but is escorted out by the police lieutenant.
Kim is rushed backstage ready for her big moment with Nick, she puts on her crown and waits in the other room to be called out when she hears loud screams coming from the dance hall. She rushes out to see the severed head of Lou (who had knocked Nick out and switched places with him to trick Kim). The enter room evacuates but Kim rushes in to find Nick, who is tied up. She frees him and they attempt to make it out of the prom when they are confronted by a hooded man with an axe.
He tries to kill Nick but Kim helps fight him off, eventually taking his axe and hitting him on the side of the head with the blunt part. The killer gets up and Kim, looking into his eyes, realises who the culprit is. He then runs out to escape but Kim chases after him. The police are waiting outside and Kim begs them not to shoot the killer. He collapses onto the floor due to his head injury and Kim holds him in his arms. It's Alex and he tells Kim that he saw them kill Robin and deserved to pay for it.
