My name is Michael Anderson and I´m not what you´d call a road scholar. I don´t have much in the way of philosophy either but I know one thing. In this world you have to pay as you go, sometines all you have.
Michael Anderson introduces himself

Michael "Mike" Anderson was played by Tim Daly in Storm of the Century. Everything that happened is told by him in the movie.

Biography[]

He is the constable of Little Tall in Maine and enforces the law there with the help of his friend Alton Hatcher. He also has a supermarket in the town and is married to Molly Anderson. They both have a son called Ralph, who is still a child. He is also the man with the greatest integrity there and has a rivalry with the town manager Robert Beals.

He arrests Linoge after he murders Martha Clarendon, something Linoge wants him to do, but neither he nor the others in town can control him and he easily escapes later. He helplessly has to watch the atrocities he later commits and cannot do anything about it. He is also aware, that he obsessively demands something from the town and that he is also a demon mentioned in the bible called Legion (Linoge is a derivative from this word).

He is the only one that Linoge respects despite of the fact, that he cannot do anything agaisnt him and when Linoge puts the children into a forced sleep and demands from him a town meeting so that they hear from him what he wants, he therefore has no choice but to give in to his demand in order to prevent him from doing more harm.

He stands up to Linoge, when he demands a child in exchange for all of their lives, till the bitter end. He fails, the town gives in to his demand and in the following drawing that is done, his son is chosen to bethe one Linoge should have. Desperately he implores Linoge to give him his son back, but to no avail. He flies away with him.

After that he leaves town in the following summer, divorces his wife and breaks with his friend, who sided with the town, and never returns. He returns to his studies and becomes a federal marshall in San Francisco, where he goes after the events, and nine years later he casually finds his son again there together with Linoge. He has become like Linoge and rejects him. When he tries to go after him, they both disappear.

This horrible event has taught him, that you always have to pay in life, one way or the other and, sometimes, you also pay with all you got, like it happened to him. It also strengthens his resolve never to return to his hometown and never see or talk to his wife again, condemning them both to become a distant memory for him in time.
