Regan Teresa MacNeil is the tritagonist in the 1973 film The Exorcist and the protagonist in the 1977 sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic. , also known as Regan MacNeil, , also known as Regan MacNeil,  She was played by Linda Blair. She was one of Pazuzu's most important possession victims. He first came to her, when she was 12 years-old, after she had dabbled with a Ouija Board.

Regan was possessed by Pazuzu twice.

The Exorcist[edit | edit source]

In the first movie it is seen, how she slowly begins to be possessed by him, how the doctors don't understand what is going on with her, and how they finally advise Regan's exorcism to her mother Mrs. MacNeil. Following their advice, the mother contacts the church, who sends a priest, who comes to the conclusion, that Regan is indeed possessed by a demon. Regan tries to defend herself, but the demon becomes stronger and stronger, until he has her mind and capability to communicate under his control.

In her desperation she finally marks in her belly the words "HELP ME" as her only way to communicate with the outside world. The priest with the help of an exorcist, who dealt with this demon before, defeats the demon, but at the cost of both of their lives. When Regan goes away with her mother, she shows gratitude for what the priests did by kissing a third one.

Exorcist 2: The Heretic[edit | edit source]

In the second movie it is found out, that Regan was possessed, because she has the ability to heal others, something the demon hates. She is now receiving psychological treatment. Pazuzu made a second attempt, but this time she is stronger and can defeat him with the help of a priest, who is prepared for this surviving it on the way together with the priest.
