Steve Freeling was played by Craig T. Nelson. He is the main protagonist of the original Poltergeist and its first sequel.
Biography[]
Poltergeist I[]
Steve and his family live in Cuesta Verde, a housing development in California. He is a successful real estate agent, who works for Mr. Teague. When paranormal events happen in his house and his daughter Carol Anne disappears, he and his wife Diane place their other two children Robbie and Dana in a safe place and hire Tangina Barrons to save her, which she does.
Still, paranormal activities continue to happen and everything escalates. It turns out his boss hadn´t removed the corpses from a cemetery that was in the same place where Cuesta Verde was built, which triggered the tremendous paranormal events in the house. Realizing this, he angrily confronts his boss and, after saving his family, he flees with them with no intent of returning while their house vanishes.
Steve and his family spend the night at a Holiday Inn. Knowing everything began with their appearance through their TV in their home, he pushes the television set out onto the balcony.
Poltergeist II[]
Four years after the events of Poltergeist, Steve and his family are now living in a house with Diane's mother, Jessica "Grandma Jess" Wilson. Having lost his real estate license, Steve is reduced to selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door.
When Kane, the main force of the former paranormal event, appears through Carol Anne´s toy phone Taylor shows up and helps him deal with their horrible situation while finding out that Kane had been buried beneath the other corpses beneath their former home. With his help, he and the family are able to stand against Kane, return to their vanished former house and defeat him.
Poltergeist III[]
He doesn´t appear there, but it is known that he and his wife sent Carol Anne to her uncle and aunt in Chicago.
