Sylvester Stallone (born July 6, 1946) is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer.
Despite being an action star primarily, Stallone has also had a brief foray into horror, writing and selling an episode in 1973 to an Australian film company, and starring in the horror thriller, D-Tox aka Eye See You.
Career
Sylvester Stallone began studying in Switzerland and later in Miami, and got to be an extra in some high profile films, like Downhill Racer, MASH, Lovers and Other Strangers, and Klute, and eventually gained several bigger parts in movies such as Bananas and Capone. He moved from Philadelphia to New York City in late 1969, but soon found himself being cast in mostly awful theatre productions, and at one point, he had to appear in an adult film called The Party at Kitty and Stud's, just to get by. It was only released with a different title, following his eventual rise to fame. It was an atrocious softcore film that he was paid $200 to star in. Better roles arrived a few years later, with starring roles in such films as The Lords of Flatbush and No Place to Hide. But it was hard to find steady work; "Sly" was on the verge of giving up.
Stallone is chiefly known for playing the iconic boxer Rocky Balboa and soldier John Rambo, and other action oriented roles. He was born in New York City.
In 1975, he saw a fight on TV that inspired him, and he wrote Rocky. To begin with, no one wanted to cast him in the lead role, and offered him a lot of dough for his script for the movie. Stallone insisted he star, and after a lot of persuation, the rest is history. He reprised the role in an astonishing seven sequels, with the last two focusing more so on Adonis Creed.
Stallone has fathered five children, and been married three times. He has, as of March 2019, appeared in over 20 #1 movies.
