Tara Carpenter is the deuteragonist of Scream 5 (2022) and Scream 6 (2023). She is the younger sister of Samantha Carpenter and ex-best friend of serial killer, Amber Freeman.
Background[]
Her father abandoned her at eight years old, followed by her older sister at thirteen years old. At school, her friend Wes Hicks had a crush on her.
Biography[]
Scream 5 (2022)[]
Tara is left home alone by her mother who is at a conference in London. She is stabbed seven times by a new Ghostface entity but survives. Later, her estranged older sister Samantha returns after over 5 years to reveal she is actually her half-sister, and the birth child of serial killer Billy Loomis. Angered by the baggage Samantha has brought on her, she yells for her sister to leave.
Later, Tara is attacked at the hospital and left for dead but Dewey Riley intervenes and is killed for it. She loses her inhaler so stops by best friend Amber Freeman's house to get a new one. But it is a trap to lure her in and kill everyone. Richie, Samantha's boyfriend is secretly dating Amber and plans to frame Tara's sister for the murders.
Tara fights back and attacks Amber, and eventually shoots her in the head. Later, she and Samantha are transferred to a different hospital to recover from their injuries.
Scream VI (2023)[]
Tara is now a college student, alongside fellow friends and survivors, Chad and Mindy. They go to Blackmore University in New York City. History repeats itself, and a new killer emerges.
Despite her independence as an adult, Samantha is still overprotective due to their trauma from the previous year.
Before Quinn is done with her first phone call conversation when harassing and threatening Samantha, Tara is first attacked alongside Samantha outside of their apartment before one of the 3 Ghostface Killers and the Bodega Clark and 2 customers are killed at the Bodega by Wayne.
The next time Tara is attacked is at the Ghostface Shrine where Quinn is the first Ghostface to pop out and stab Tara in the back leading to a fight with Tara, Chad, Sam and Kirby (Off-Screen Fight with Quinn) fight off Both Quinn and Ethan who eventually jumps into the fight and "kills" Chad with Quinn.
Tara's last fight is of course during Act 3 after Wayne (Mastermind), Ethan (2nd accomplice) and Quinn (3rd accomplice) as Richie's Family who seek revenge against Samantha with Tara knocking half of Quinn's teeth out with a brick making her collapse to the floor and as she tells Samantha to "let her go", she kills Ethan (alongside Kirby for "one last scare") by stabbing him in the mouth/throat and twisting the knife as she tells him to "die a f*cking virgin".
During the Aftermath of Act 3, Tara is so shocked to find out that Chad somehow survived his attack (plot armour) and Samantha, Tara, Chad, Mindy, Danny and Kirby are taken to the hospital to get cured off-screen.
